Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum is housed in a Italianate building within the Laxmi Vilas Palace compound that once served as the private school of the Maharaja's children. Now open to the public, it contains the Gaekwad family's personal art collection including an important set of works by Raja Ravi Varma, European paintings by Murillo, Raphael and Titian reproductions, Japanese and Chinese art, marble sculptures and personal effects of the royal family. The museum provides intimate access to the cultural patronage of one of India's most progressive princely states.
