Aurobindo Ashram Baroda

The palatial bungalow where Sri Aurobindo lived from 1894 to 1906, Gujarat's earliest significant ashram.

Aurobindo Ashram in Dandia Bazar is the bungalow where Sri Aurobindo Ghose, philosopher, yogi and independence activist, lived and worked from 1894 to 1906. During this period he was a professor at Baroda College and simultaneously worked for Indian independence, writing political essays and organising the resistance. The palatial bungalow now serves as an ashram and library housing a large collection of Aurobindo's writings. The meditation halls and quiet gardens provide an atmosphere of contemplation.
