Badi Lake

Plan your visit to Badi Lake with practical local information, updates, and travel context.

An expansive freshwater lake on the outskirts of Udaipur, built by Maharana Raj Singh between 1652 and 1680 and named Jiyan Sagar in honour of his mother Jana Devi. Spanning around 155 sq km, it served as a lifeline for the city during the severe drought of 1973. Quieter and less commercial than Pichola or Fateh Sagar, Badi Lake draws visitors for its scenic Aravalli backdrop, three ornamental chhatris, and the popular Bahubali Hill trek.
