Tripura Sundari Temple

Tripura Sundari Temple, also known as Matabari Temple, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas located in Udaipur town, South Tripura. Dedicated to Goddess Tripura Sundari (a form of Goddess Parvati), it is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Northeast India. The temple sits atop a small hillock and draws thousands of pilgrims throughout the year. The presiding deity is worshipped as one of the Dasha Mahavidyas. The temple tank nearby, called Kalia Sagar, is home to turtles considered sacred by devotees.
