Standing on the banks of the Gomati River, the Bhubaneshwari Temple was built between 1660 and 1676 by King Govinda Manikya. The temple carries literary weight too, since Rabindranath Tagore referenced it in his plays Rajarshi and Bisarjan, both inspired by its history. Protected today by the Archaeological Survey of India, the temple offers a tranquil riverside setting away from the crowds at Matabari, appealing to visitors interested in Tripura's Manikya era heritage.
