Harihar Fort stands about thirteen kilometers from Trimbakeshwar in Nirgudpada village, built sometime between 1700 and 1800 atop a hillock. It has earned worldwide attention for its almost perpendicular carved stone stairway, considered one of the more thrilling climbs among Maharashtra's hill forts. Much of the fort lies in ruins today except for a structure called Darukothar and the main entrance, Mahadarwaja, but the climb itself remains the primary draw for adventure seeking trekkers.
