Sunehri Kothi, the golden mansion, is a hall inside the Nazar Bagh palace complex built by the Nawabs of Tonk in the 19th century. From outside it looks plain, but the interior walls and ceilings are covered with gilded stucco, mirror work, stained glass and painted enamel in floral patterns. The Nawabs used it for music and poetry gatherings. It has been closed for restoration for long periods, and when open a caretaker holds the keys. Confirm with the district tourism or archaeology office in Tonk before you make the trip.
