Bisalpur Dam is a gravity dam on the Banas river, completed in 1999. Its reservoir supplies drinking water to Jaipur, Ajmer and Tonk, and in a good monsoon the gates are opened, which draws crowds from Jaipur. On the shore stands the Bisaldeo temple, a 12th-century Shiva temple associated with the Chauhan ruler Vigraharaja IV, which is partly submerged when the reservoir is full. The drive and the view over the water are the main reasons to go, especially just after the monsoon.
