Skandashramam

A hillside cave where Ramana Maharshi lived from 1916 to 1922, with panoramic town views.

Skandashramam occupies a ledge on Arunachala Hill above Virupaksha Cave, where Sri Ramana Maharshi moved in 1916 after his mother Alagammal joined him. Named after Lord Skanda, the cave became a small ashram where she cooked for the growing band of disciples until her passing in 1922, an event regarded as her spiritual liberation. The site offers sweeping views over Tiruvannamalai town and the temple gopurams below, and the steeper trek here rewards visitors with a deep sense of quiet.
