The Girivalam path traces a fourteen kilometer loop around the base of Arunachala Hill, walked barefoot by thousands of pilgrims every full moon night and even more during Karthigai Deepam. The route passes the eight Ashtalingam shrines, several ashrams, temple tanks, and roadside shelters built for resting walkers. Hindu tradition holds that the walk dissolves past sins and brings devotees closer to liberation. Beyond its religious significance, the path offers a uniquely immersive way to experience the town's temples, hills, and devotional energy in a single journey.
