Talakona Waterfalls in the Sri Venkateswara National Park near Tirupati is the highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh, dropping approximately 270 feet (82 metres) through dense forest. The waterfall is located deep within the Seshachalam Biosphere Reserve and is surrounded by dense Eastern Ghats tropical forest. The forest around the falls is home to tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and numerous bird species. The falls are considered sacred and a small Shiva temple is located nearby. The trek through the forest to reach the falls is itself a rewarding wildlife and nature experience.
