Silathoranam (Natural Arch)

One of Asia's few natural rock arches at Tirumala, formed over millions of years in the Precambrian quartzite hills near the Venkateswara Temple.

Silathoranam at Tirumala is a rare natural rock arch formation in the Seshachalam hills, considered one of the very few natural arches in Asia. The arch measures approximately 8 metres in width and 3 metres in height and is formed by the natural erosion of the Precambrian quartzite rocks of the Eastern Ghats over millions of years. Geologically significant and visually striking, the arch is located about 1 km from the Venkateswara Temple and is part of the Tirumala hill pilgrimage trail. Devotees and geologists alike are drawn to this unique natural wonder.
