Jambukeswarar Temple, located in Thiruvanaikaval near Trichy, represents the water element among Tamil Nadu's five Pancha Bhoota Sthalams dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built by the Chola dynasty around eighteen hundred years ago, the temple is known for its towering gopurams and a sanctum where the lingam remains perpetually submerged in water fed by an underground spring. The site holds major significance for Shaivite pilgrims and stands alongside Rockfort as one of Trichy's most important heritage temples.
