Thiruvambadi Sree Krishna Temple

One of the two temples central to the famous Thrissur Pooram festival.

Thiruvambadi Sree Krishna Temple sits at the heart of Thrissur city and forms one half of the legendary Thrissur Pooram rivalry. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, the temple's elephant processions and percussion ensembles compete each year with neighbouring Paramekkavu in a spectacle of colour and sound. Outside festival season, the temple remains an active place of daily worship with traditional Kerala temple architecture. Its central location makes it an easy stop while exploring the Thekkinkadu maidan area.
