Valliamman Cave Temple is set within a natural cave formation at the northeast corner of the Thiruchendur Murugan temple complex, carved into what is traditionally identified as a remnant of the ancient sandalwood hill of Thiruchendur. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Valli, the beloved Tamil consort of Lord Murugan, whose story of devoted love is one of the most cherished in Tamil Shaiva tradition. The cave setting lends the shrine an intimate and primeval character distinct from the grand gopuram-dominated spaces of the main complex. It is visited as a natural extension of the Murugan darshan circuit.
