Thanjavur Art Gallery occupies the main hall of the palace complex and is regarded as one of the finest repositories of Chola-period art in India. The collection spans over 1,000 stone sculptures and bronze icons, including rare pieces depicting Vishnu, Shiva, Parvati, and multiple interpretations of Nataraja. A dedicated room of Natarajas is considered the highlight of the gallery. Tanjore-style glass paintings with gold foil and gem embellishments are also displayed. The building itself, with its carved ceilings and pillared interiors, provides a fitting architectural setting for the collection.
