Sivaganga Park

Sivaganga Park occupies the grounds around the Sivaganga Tank within the old Vijayanagar Fort precinct in the heart of Thanjavur. The square tank was constructed by the 16th-century rulers as the city's freshwater source and is still noted locally for its sweet-tasting water. The surrounding gardens are well-maintained and form one of the most pleasant open spaces in the city. The park is a popular gathering point for Thanjavur residents in the early mornings and evenings, and lies within easy walking distance of both the Big Temple and the palace complex.
