Kalibari Temple

A Bengali community temple built in 1996, dedicated to Goddess Kali with idols crafted in Kolkata style architecture.

Kalibari Temple emerged from a joint effort by Thane's Bengali community in 1996 and centers on a black stone idol of Goddess Kali crafted in Kolkata. Goddess Laxmi and Goddess Saraswati are also worshipped within the same complex, and the temple's design echoes the ancient temple architecture of Odisha rather than the Maharashtrian styles found elsewhere in the city. The site serves as a cultural anchor for Thane's Bengali residents, particularly during Durga Puja and Kali Puja celebrations.
