Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is dedicated to Goddess Mariamman, an incarnation of Shakti, and is considered one of the wealthiest and most-visited temples in Tamil Nadu. Situated 12 km from Srirangam, the temple draws enormous crowds especially on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays when special pujas are performed. The Poochorithal flower festival and the April-May chariot festival are major annual events drawing pilgrims from across the state. Legend holds that the presiding idol was originally housed at the Srirangam Temple before being relocated here. The temple administration is among the most well-organised in Tamil Nadu.
