Butterfly Park

Butterfly Park at Melur, about 7 km from Srirangam, is one of India's largest butterfly conservatories. The landscaped grounds house around 1,500 species of butterflies amid flowering plants, creating a vivid kaleidoscopic environment distinct from the temple-heavy Srirangam circuit. The park also features a children's playground, an artificial lake, and a water fountain. It is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department and draws families and nature enthusiasts looking for a refreshing natural counterpoint to the day's pilgrimage. Best visited in the morning when butterfly activity peaks in the gardens.
