Prabhas Patan Museum, set up in 1951 just a short walk from the Somnath Temple entrance, houses the remnants of the temple's earlier incarnations. Carved stones, broken sculptures, and inscriptions recovered from past reconstructions are arranged across an open patio, alongside traditional jewelry and artifacts spanning multiple historical periods. The collection tells the layered story of a site rebuilt repeatedly after invasion, offering visitors context that the present-day temple alone cannot convey. It stays closed on Wednesdays and national holidays.
