Gita Mandir

A marble temple on the Triveni Sangam with the Bhagavad Gita inscribed across its pillars.

Gita Mandir stands on the banks of the Triveni Sangam, built where Krishna is said to have rested after being struck by the hunter's arrow at Bhalka. Funded by the Birla Group, the temple's white marble structure is also known locally as Birla Mandir. Eighteen marble pillars carry inscriptions of the Bhagavad Gita's verses, and a carved footprint marks Krishna's final resting spot. The temple's acoustics are notable too, designed so a visitor can hear their own voice echo back.
