Lakshmana Temple

The Lakshmana Temple was built around 595 to 605 AD by Vasata, mother of King Mahasivagupta Balarjuna, and stands as Sirpur's best preserved monument. Carved door frames depict a reclining Vishnu on Sesha alongside scenes from the Bhagavata Purana. The brick temple rests on a stone platform large enough for circumambulation, with the sanctum's stone doorframe surviving intact despite the ruined mandapa around it. It remains the anchor point for any visit to the site.
