Sikar Fort (Sikar Qila)

An 18th-century fort at the heart of Sikar city, surrounded by the town's original seven entry gates and rich in Shekhawati royal history.

Sikar Fort, locally known as Sikar Qila, was built in the 18th century by the Shekhawati Rajput rulers who made Sikar the seat of one of the most powerful thikanas in the Jaipur state. The fort stands in the old quarters of the city and is surrounded by remnants of the original fortified town wall, which was once accessible through seven grand pols or gateways. Towers and bastions rise above the crowded lanes of the old town, and the fort offers elevated views across a city that still holds much of its traditional character. It is a defining landmark of Sikar's medieval layout.
