Harshnath Temple sits atop Harsh Parvat, a rocky hill in the Aravalli range about 11 km from Sikar, and is one of the oldest places of worship in the Shekhawati region. The original temple was built in 973 CE during the reign of Chahamana king Vigraharaja II, as confirmed by inscriptions on site. It was demolished by Aurangzeb in 1679 and rebuilt in 1718 by Rao Shivsingh using the ruins. The rebuilt complex features 24 pillars carved with mythological figures, animals, and celestial beings, and the hilltop setting adds a sense of isolation and reverence.
