Vindhyagiri Hill

The granite hill housing the Gommateshwara statue, reached by a barefoot climb of over 600 stone steps.

Vindhyagiri Hill rises above Shravanabelagola town and holds the path pilgrims climb to reach the Gommateshwara statue. The 614 rock cut steps wind past smaller basadis including Odegal and Akkana before opening onto the summit courtyard. No footwear is allowed on the stone, so an early morning start helps avoid the midday heat. The hilltop rewards climbers with sweeping views of the town, its twin hill Chandragiri, and the Kalyani pond below.
