Chavundaraya Basadi

Chavundaraya Basadi, also called Chamundaraya Basadi, was constructed in 982 AD by the Ganga minister who also commissioned the Gommateshwara statue. Dedicated to Neminatha, the 22nd Jain Tirthankara, it follows Dravidian architectural style and is considered the most beautiful of the Chandragiri basadis. The temple has a circumambulatory passage and an open sukanasi, features not shared by its smaller neighbors on the hill. Its scale sets it apart within the Chandragiri cluster.
