Chandragiri Hill

Chandragiri Hill sits opposite Vindhyagiri and holds the oldest concentration of basadis in Shravanabelagola, some dating to the 9th century. Emperor Chandragupta Maurya is believed to have spent his final years here as a Jain ascetic under the monk Bhadrabahu. The hill carries over 800 inscriptions in Kannada and Sanskrit, making it one of India's richest epigraphic sites. A quieter climb than Vindhyagiri, it suits visitors interested in history over crowds.
