Shirdi Sai Baba Temple

A renowned pilgrimage site dedicated to Sai Baba, a revered saint known for his teachings of love, unity, and compassion across all faiths.

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi, Ahmednagar district, is one of the most visited religious sites in India, attracting around 25,000 to 40,000 pilgrims daily and far more during festivals. The temple is dedicated to Sai Baba of Shirdi, a spiritual master who lived in Shirdi from roughly 1858 until his death in 1918 and is revered by both Hindus and Muslims. Sai Baba's teachings emphasised love, forgiveness, helping others, charity, contentment, and devotion to God, cutting across religious boundaries in a way that has given him a uniquely broad following. The main temple complex includes the samadhi mandir where Sai Baba's mortal remains are enshrined, the Dwarkamai mosque where he lived for most of his life, the Chavadi where he slept on alternate nights, and the Gurusthan marking the spot where he was first seen as a young man. The complex also includes a museum and exhibition documenting his life. Shirdi has grown from a small village to a major pilgrimage town entirely around the devotion to Sai Baba, with thousands of lodges, ashrams, and facilities serving pilgrims year-round.
