Annandale Ground

A historic flat meadow in Shimla used by the British for polo and horse racing, now a helipad surrounded by pine-covered hills.

Annandale Ground is a historic flat meadow in the hills of Shimla, located about 2 km from the town centre at an altitude of around 1,750 metres. During British rule it was used for picnics, polo matches, cricket, and horse racing by the colonial administration. It is one of the few flat open spaces in the hilly terrain of Shimla and today serves as a helipad and military ground. The meadow offers beautiful views of the surrounding pine-covered hills and carries a strong sense of colonial nostalgia.
