Shillong Peak View Point, at 1,965 metres the highest point in Meghalaya, sits within an Indian Air Force base near Laitkor and offers a 360-degree panorama of Shillong city, surrounding waterfalls, the Himalayan foothills, and on clear days the plains of Bangladesh. According to Khasi belief, the deity Leishyllong resides here and protects the city. Entry requires a valid photo ID; foreign nationals are not permitted. Private vehicles stop at the ticket gate and visitors travel onward by authorised taxi.
