Chaiti

Chaiti in Santiniketan is the spring festival grounds associated with Rabindranath Tagore's annual Basanta Utsav (spring festival) celebrations. Tagore introduced this tradition of welcoming spring with music, dance, and colour, which continues to this day at Visva-Bharati University. The celebration of Holi at Santiniketan, known as Dol Utsav, is a distinctive and culturally rich event where students and faculty celebrate with Tagore's songs (Rabindra Sangeet), traditional dances, and the sprinkling of colour on each other. The festival draws visitors from across the country seeking a cultured and artistic version of Holi.
