Koteshwar Mahadev Temple

Koteshwar Mahadev Temple occupies a natural cave close to the Alaknanda near Rudraprayag town, dedicated to Shiva. Legend holds that Shiva blessed the sage Narad here while emerging in his Rudra form. The cool, dim interior of the cave gives the shrine a distinctly different atmosphere from the open air temples elsewhere in the valley, and its riverside location makes it an easy stop near the sangam.
