Ratnadurga Fort

Coastal fort with sea on three sides, housing the Bhagwati Temple and a working lighthouse.

Ratnadurga Fort, also called Bhagwati Fort, wraps around a headland with the Arabian Sea touching three of its sides. Within the walls stands the Bhagwati Temple along with smaller shrines to Hanuman and Ganesha, giving the fort a dual identity as both a military relic and an active place of worship. A lighthouse at its western tip adds sweeping views over Ratnagiri's coastline and the Kajali river estuary.
