Marleshwar Temple sits in a cave near the village of Maral close to Sangameshwar, often called the Trimbakeshwar of Konkan. Local belief holds that cobras coexist peacefully around the shivling without harming visitors, adding a distinctive layer of folklore to the shrine. A nearby seasonal waterfall and forested surroundings make the temple a good combination of nature and pilgrimage for those travelling slightly inland from the coast.
