Narlai is a compact heritage village 6 km from Ranakpur, dotted with over 100 ancient temples, including an Adinath Jain temple, rock-cut cave shrines, and a cave associated with sage Narad. The central granite hillock, called Elephant Hill for its profile, can be climbed for panoramic views across the Aravalli valley. A 16th-century royal stepwell on private grounds is among the most atmospheric heritage sites in the area. The village functions as a quieter, more intimate counterpoint to the busy temple complex at Ranakpur, with the added draw of leopard safaris in the adjoining forest.
