Dowleswaram Barrage

Historic Godavari anicut and barrage south of Rajahmundry with wide river and canal views.

Dowleswaram Barrage, just south of Rajahmundry, is Sir Arthur Cotton's famous Godavari anicut remodelled into a modern barrage that still defines the region's irrigation story. Visitors come for the broad river views, canal offtakes, and a sense of how the delta was engineered. It is an easy road stop from the city and works well with a Godavari bridge photo circuit. Parking and walkways are near the barrage approach; avoid restricted operational zones.
