Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple sits on the banks of the Kharun river at Mahadev Ghat, around five kilometres from central Raipur, and ranks among the city's oldest Shiva shrines. A stone inscription dates construction to 1402 under Hajiraj Naik during the rule of the Kalchuri kings, with major renovation recorded in later centuries. The ghat location supports ritual bathing, and the temple becomes a focal point during Sawan and Shivratri, when devotees arrive for Rudrabhishek ceremonies.
