The Pap Mochani temple, also known locally as the Gayatri Mata temple, sits on a hill on the north side of Pushkar. The name means the one who frees you from sin. The walk up from behind the Marwar bus stand takes about 15 to 30 minutes on a stone and dirt path with some steps; there is no ropeway. The shrine itself is small, but the top gives a wide view over Pushkar Lake, the town and the surrounding hills, and it is quieter than the Savitri temple on the opposite hill. Go early in the morning or around sunset, and carry water.
