Lokanatha Temple

Plan your visit to Lokanatha Temple with practical local information, updates, and travel context.

One of the most revered Shaiva shrines in Odisha, Lokanatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and stands about 2.5 km west of Jagannath Temple. Its most remarkable feature is a Shivalinga that remains submerged in water throughout the year and becomes visible only once, on the eve of Shivaratri. According to legend, Lord Rama himself installed this lingam while journeying to Lanka. Devotees believe Lord Lokanatha serves as the eternal guardian of Puri Dham.
