The Vighnahar, or Vighneshwar, temple at Ozar is one of the eight Ashtavinayak shrines, standing on the bank of the Kukadi River about 85 km from Pune. Its legend tells of Ganesh defeating Vighnasura, the demon of obstacles, who then asked that Ganesh be worshipped here as the remover of obstacles. Chimaji Appa, brother of Peshwa Bajirao I, is said to have renovated the temple and covered its spire with gold after taking Vasai fort from the Portuguese in 1739. The temple stands in a walled courtyard, and it is usually visited together with Lenyadri and Shivneri.
