Vetal Tekdi, or Vetal Hill, is the highest point within Pune city, at about 800 m. It takes its name from the temple of Vetal on top, and the forest department has built an observation deck nearby with views across the city to the Sahyadri. Trails run up from Pashan, Panchavati, Law College Road and Kothrud, and the hill is busiest at dawn, when walkers, runners and birdwatchers come up. Its scrub forest is one of the largest green spaces left inside the city. Carry water, as there are no shops on top.
