Tamhini Ghat carries the road from Mulshi over the crest of the Sahyadri and down towards Kolad and the Konkan coast. In the monsoon dozens of waterfalls pour off the cliffs beside the road, and the valleys fill with cloud, making it one of the most popular monsoon drives from Pune. The road is narrow and winding, landslides can close it in heavy rain, and the forest department sometimes restricts stopping at waterfalls, so check conditions before going and drive carefully.
