Mulshi Lake

Mulshi Lake

Large reservoir on the Mula River about 45 km west of Pune, surrounded by forested hills that turn green in the monsoon.

Mulshi Lake is the reservoir behind the Mulshi Dam, built on the Mula River in the 1920s by the Tata group for hydroelectric power. It lies about 45 km west of Pune, and the road around it winds through hills, villages and forest that are at their greenest in the monsoon. Many people combine it with a drive over Tamhini Ghat. Resorts and homestays line parts of the shore, but there is little public access to the water's edge.
