Laxmi Road runs east to west through the old peths and is Pune's traditional shopping street. It is lined with sari and textile houses, wedding wear shops and long established jewellers, along with shoe shops and stores selling everything from stationery to steel utensils. Tulshibaug and Mandai market are just off it, and Dagdusheth Ganpati is close by. It is crowded in the evenings and very crowded before Diwali, Dussehra and the wedding season; walking is easier than driving.
