Chitale Bandhu opened its first Pune shop on Bajirao Road in 1950, and the name is now known across Maharashtra. Bakarwadi, a crisp spiral pastry with a sweet, spicy and tangy filling, is its best known product and travels well as a gift. The counters also sell amba barfi, pedhe, shrikhand, chaklis and other Maharashtrian sweets and savouries. This original shop is still the busiest.
