Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park covers about 1,730 sq km of central Bhutan and protects a large part of the Black Mountains. Its forests range from broadleaf woodland to alpine meadows and shelter tigers, red pandas, Himalayan black bears, golden langurs and many birds. The Phobjikha valley, the winter home of black necked cranes, lies close to the park.
The park is seen on drives across central Bhutan and on treks in the Black Mountains. Visits to Bhutan are arranged through licensed tour operators, who handle permits.
- How to Reach: The park lies between Punakha, Wangdue Phodrang and Trongsa on Bhutan's lateral road; Paro has the nearest international airport.
