Triveni Sangam

The most sacred Hindu confluence where the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers meet in Prayagraj — believed to grant liberation, epicentre of the Kumbh Mela.

Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj is the most sacred of all pilgrimages in Hinduism — the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical underground Saraswati rivers. The point where the blue-green Yamuna meets the muddy Ganga is visible from the banks and boats; the Saraswati is believed to flow invisibly from underground. A dip at the Sangam is considered the most meritorious act a Hindu devotee can perform and is believed to wash away all sins and grant liberation (moksha). The Sangam is the epicentre of the Kumbh Mela and draws millions of pilgrims throughout the year, particularly on auspicious bathing dates.
