A striking 130-foot, four-storey Dravidian-style temple on the Ganga left bank, north of Triveni Sangam, the Shankar Viman Mandapam is dedicated to Lord Shiva and built in honour of Adi Shankaracharya. Founded by devotees of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth and inaugurated in 1986, the temple houses a swayambhu Shiva Lingam believed to be self-manifested since Puranic times. The upper floors offer sweeping views of the Sangam.
