Samudra Koop

A sacred ancient well inside Allahabad Fort, Samudra Koop is believed to be the earthly source of the mythical Saraswati river. Located near the Ashoka Pillar and Patalpuri Temple within the fort complex, the well is venerated in Hindu tradition for its connection to the cosmic ocean and is said to possess healing properties. Pilgrims who visit Patalpuri Temple routinely seek darshan of Samudra Koop as part of the same sacred circuit, with access opened especially during Magh Mela and Kumbh Mela.
